MECpower Solutions Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to establish a 5 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in the state, reinforcing Gujarat’s position as a key hub for advanced energy storage manufacturing in India.
The proposed facility will manufacture advanced battery energy storage systems to support India’s rapidly growing renewable energy sector and the increasing demand for grid-scale energy storage solutions. The project aligns with the country’s clean energy ambitions by strengthening domestic battery manufacturing capabilities and reducing dependence on imports.
The investment is expected to contribute significantly to Gujarat’s industrial and clean energy ecosystem by promoting local manufacturing, generating employment opportunities, and supporting the development of a resilient battery supply chain. The facility will cater to utility-scale renewable energy projects, commercial and industrial applications, and other emerging energy storage requirements.
The MoU reflects the Gujarat Government’s continued efforts to attract investments in advanced energy technologies and establish the state as a leading destination for clean energy manufacturing. The initiative is also expected to accelerate the adoption of battery energy storage systems, which play a crucial role in enhancing grid reliability, integrating renewable energy, and supporting India’s energy transition
