The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II for solar photovoltaic cells, adding 3,709 MW of TOPCon cell capacity in August 2026. The latest update takes the total solar cell manufacturing capacity enlisted under ALMM List-II to 35,467 MW.
Three existing manufacturers increased their capacities in the latest revision. Avaada Electro added 3,011 MW of TOPCon G12R cell capacity from its Nagpur facility, taking its total ALMM-listed capacity to 3,621 MW.
Emmvee Energy increased its listed capacity by 600 MW to 2,153 MW, while Waaree Energies added 98 MW of TOPCon cell capacity, taking its TOPCon capacity to 4,021 MW. Including its 1,328 MW of Mono PERC capacity, Waaree’s total ALMM-listed cell capacity has reached 5,349 MW.
The August update marks the ninth revision of ALMM List-II since the list was first introduced on July 31, 2025. The previous revision, issued on July 22, 2026, included Avaada Electro’s initial 610 MW N-type TOPCon G12 solar cell capacity and an increase in Fujiyama Power Systems’ listed bifacial Mono PERC capacity to 1,077 MW.
MNRE has also extended the exemption from ALMM List-II requirements for domestically manufactured solar cells in net-metering and open-access solar projects until December 31, 2026.
Separately, the ministry expanded the ALMM framework in March 2026 to cover solar ingots and wafers under a proposed List-III, with compliance scheduled to become mandatory from June 1, 2028.
The continued expansion of ALMM-listed cell capacity indicates the growing scale of India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem and the increasing availability of locally manufactured high-efficiency cell technologies.
