Trontek Electronics, an Indian energy technology company, is expanding its presence in the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) segment, targeting an annual manufacturing capacity of 12 GWh by 2028. The company plans to serve residential, commercial and industrial (C&I), and utility-scale applications through its Made-in-India energy storage portfolio.
The expansion marks the next phase of Trontek’s growth in battery technology, electric mobility, charging infrastructure, and energy solutions. With energy storage gaining importance in India’s renewable energy transition, the company aims to address demand for reliable power, energy management, and improved integration of renewable sources.
Trontek’s BESS portfolio ranges from 215 kWh to 5 MWh, catering to different customer requirements. Its 215 kWh-class systems are designed for C&I applications, including hotels, offices, and small and medium-sized manufacturing facilities, supporting demand management and energy optimisation. The 418 kWh-class systems are intended for larger facilities such as factories, warehouses, hospitals, and industrial campuses.
For utility and grid-scale applications, the company is offering 5 MWh systems designed for industrial parks, utilities, and large-scale solar-plus-storage projects. These solutions aim to support renewable energy integration, grid flexibility, and more efficient electricity management.
According to Samrath S. Kochar, Founder and CEO of Trontek, energy storage will play a defining role as mobility, residential, industrial, and power grid requirements increasingly converge. He said the company intends to build on its experience in battery technology to develop energy storage capabilities suited to India’s growing market.
The company is focusing on local engineering and manufacturing, supported by capabilities in battery systems, testing, system integration, technology development, and service.
Trontek’s 12 GWh capacity target reflects its ambition to expand beyond its existing battery business and establish energy storage as a major growth segment. The move comes amid rising demand for storage solutions to support renewable energy integration and improve power reliability across India.
