  • Waaree Transpower Secures INR 160 Crore Order for 8.3 MVA BESS MV Skids

Waaree Transpower Secures INR 160 Crore Order for 8.3 MVA BESS MV Skids

Waaree Transpower Private Limited, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd., has secured an order valued at approximately ₹160 crore from one of the world’s leading energy storage technology and solutions providers for the supply of 8.3 MVA Medium Voltage (MV) Skids for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) applications.

The order marks a significant milestone for Waaree Transpower’s growing global business and export operations, strengthening its position as a supplier of critical electrical infrastructure for the rapidly expanding energy storage market.

The 8.3 MVA MV Skid is an IEC-standard compliant, plug-and-play, containerised solution developed by Waaree Transpower specifically for BESS applications. The complete solution is integrated within a 20-foot container, enabling efficient transportation, installation and deployment across different project locations and international markets. Its shippable and stackable configuration also offers greater flexibility for large-scale BESS deployments.

Shipments under the order have commenced from July 2026.

The order comes at a time when Battery Energy Storage Systems are becoming increasingly important to support the integration of renewable energy into power grids, improve grid flexibility and enable reliable round-the-clock power.

Mr. Viren Doshi, Director, Waaree Energies Ltd, said, “Securing this order is an important milestone for Waaree Transpower as we expand our presence in the global BESS ecosystem. Our containerised MV Skid solutions combine engineering capability, standardisation and deployment flexibility, enabling us to address the requirements of large-scale energy storage projects across markets. This order reinforces our confidence in building Waaree Transpower as a globally competitive electrical infrastructure partner for the energy transition.”

With this order, Waaree Transpower is strengthening its capabilities across the renewable energy value chain and expanding its role in the electrical infrastructure required for the global transition towards cleaner and more flexible energy systems.

  • NTPC Mining Invites EOI for 50 MWp Solar Projects at Coal Mining Sites

NTPC Mining Invites EOI for 50 MWp Solar Projects at Coal Mining Sites

NTPC Mining Limited (NML), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has invited an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the development of 50 MWp of ground-mounted solar PV projects at two of its coal mining locations in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. The initiative aims to promote clean energy adoption and reduce the carbon footprint associated with NML’s mining operations.

The proposed projects will be developed under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model, under which the selected developer will be responsible for financing, constructing, owning, operating and maintaining the solar plants for a period of 25 years. NML will purchase the entire electricity generated by the projects for captive consumption, with the tariff to be discovered through a competitive bidding process.

The first project involves a 25 MWp DC/20 MW AC solar PV plant at Overburden Dump-C of the Pakribarwadih Coal Mining Project in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. Approximately 80 acres of dump-top land has been identified for the development, with the project expected to be executed within 18 months. NML has indicated that the proposed capacity could potentially be increased to 30–35 MWp during the subsequent Request for Proposal (RFP) stage.

The second project, also planned at 25 MWp DC/20 MW AC, will be developed at the MGR Bulb Area of the Talaipalli Coal Mining Project in Sundargarh, Chhattisgarh. The project will utilise around 80 acres from the available 112-acre area and is expected to be completed within 15 months.

Both projects will require a minimum DC/AC ratio of 1.25 and a minimum Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) of 22%. The EOI has been issued under reference NML/Engg/EOI/01, with August 11, 2026, specified as the publication date. Interested participants can submit clarification queries until August 18, 2026, while the deadline for submission of the EOI is September 1, 2026.

No Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) or Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) is required at the EOI stage. These requirements, along with other commercial terms and conditions, are expected to be finalised during the subsequent RFP and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) process.

The EOI is non-binding and has been issued to assess market interest, technical capabilities, commercial viability and industry feedback before NML proceeds with the formal tendering process. Eligible participants include Indian companies, firms, Central Public Sector Undertakings, State Governments, PSUs and consortiums of up to three entities.

NML has also reserved the right to limit participation in the subsequent RFP to entities that submit responses to the current EOI. Applications are required to be submitted digitally through NTPC’s e-procurement portal.
