  • Apraava Energy Secures Interstate Transmission Project in Andhra Pradesh

    Apraava Energy, one of India’s leading integrated energy solutions providers, today announced that it has acquired the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Ananthpuram Transmission Limited, for developing an interstate transmission project in Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh. The project was awarded through the Government of India’s Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process. It involves the setting up of ~250 circuit kilometres (ckm) of 765 kV transmission lines, along with a 4,500 MVA (3×1500 MVA) 765 kV pooling station, including the installation of a ±300 MVAR Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM).

    This project will strengthen the interstate transmission infrastructure in the state of Andhra Pradesh by facilitating the integration and evacuation of ~3 GW of renewable energy from Ananthapur region.

    Developed under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model, the asset will provide transmission services for a concession period of 35 years following commissioning. The completion timeline is set at 36 months from the date of signing of the Transmission Service Agreement (TSA). It is also expected to generate significant direct and indirect employment opportunities during the construction and operational phases.

    Apraava currently operates three transmission assets comprising ~1,000 ckm of transmission lines and 3,500 MVA of substation capacity. With the addition of Ananthpuram Transmission Limited, Apraava now has four greenfield transmission projects under construction, adding ~1,180 ckm of transmission lines and ~13,500 MVA of substation capacity.
