    RoadGrid Secures INR 13 Crore TDB Funding for Universal EV Charger

    RoadGrid India Pvt. Ltd. has received financial assistance of ₹13 crore from the Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, for a manufacturing project aimed at commercialising its Universal EV Charger.

    The funding will support a ₹27.5 crore project to establish a manufacturing and assembly facility for the company’s patented Universal EV charger. According to the company, the facility will have an annual production capacity of up to 2,000 chargers, with commercial production expected to begin by March 2027. The project is also expected to generate more than 100 direct jobs.

    RoadGrid’s Universal EV Charger combines a 140 kW dual DC charging system supporting CCS2 and Type 6 connectors with AC charging capability. The project aims to manufacture interoperable charging solutions capable of serving electric 2Ws, 3Ws, passenger vehicles and commercial EVs through a single integrated platform, said a company statement.

    The manufacturing facility will undertake production and assembly of power electronics, thermal management systems, embedded software, communication modules, metering systems, control hardware, enclosure fabrication, quality testing, calibration and final system integration. The company stated that the facility will be based on fully localised manufacturing.

    RoadGrid, founded in 2020 and headquartered in Indore, develops EV charging hardware, software platforms and energy management solutions. Earlier this year, the company raised ₹12 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by Venture Catalysts.

    According to the company, it currently employs more than 40 people, holds two patents related to EV charging technology, has deployed over 100 EV chargers, manages more than 200 charging points and serves six enterprise customers across Indore, Mumbai and Kolkata. The company also said it has partnered with VinFast, HPCL and IOCL.

    Commenting on the announcement, Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, Technology Development Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, said: ”The rapid expansion of reliable and interoperable charging infrastructure is fundamental to accelerating electric mobility in India. Indigenous development and manufacturing of advanced EV charging technologies will strengthen the domestic clean mobility ecosystem, reduce import dependence and support the country’s transition towards sustainable transportation. The Technology Development Board remains committed to supporting technology-driven enterprises that are building globally competitive solutions for India’s green mobility future.”
