NTPC Limited has invited Expressions of Interest (EoI) from commercial and industrial (C&I) entities willing to invest 26% equity in proposed co-generation projects aimed at meeting industrial requirements for electricity and steam.
The initiative seeks to develop co-generation facilities and explore integrated power supply solutions using coal, renewable energy, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The proposed projects are intended to address industries’ growing requirements for reliable and cost-effective energy while supporting energy efficiency and sustainability objectives.
Co-generation, which involves the simultaneous production of electricity and useful thermal energy, can help industries improve overall energy efficiency by meeting their power and steam requirements through an integrated system. NTPC aims to explore long-term power supply arrangements that offer industrial consumers greater energy security, cost optimisation, and operational reliability.
Through this initiative, the company intends to expand its energy solutions portfolio and strengthen partnerships with industrial consumers. The approach is aligned with the growing demand for integrated energy solutions as businesses focus on managing energy costs and improving sustainability.
NTPC is India’s largest integrated power utility, with an installed capacity of more than 91 GW and over 35 GW under construction. The company aims to achieve a total installed capacity of 149 GW by 2032, including 60 GW from renewable energy sources.
Beyond conventional power generation, NTPC is also expanding into emerging areas such as energy storage, electric mobility, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen.
The proposed co-generation initiative represents another step in NTPC’s efforts to develop diversified energy solutions for industrial customers while supporting India’s broader energy transition.
