WattPower Strengthens Its Sustainability Commitment with the Launch of WattPower Foundation

WattPower Systems, a leading company in the renewable energy industry, announced the official launch of its CSR arm, WattPower Foundation, marking a new chapter in the company’s commitment to creating a positive impact beyond clean energy. Guided by its Wired for Good philosophy, the Foundation will work towards building stronger communities through initiatives that improve access, create opportunities and bring lasting change.

The Foundation will focus on four key areas that lie at the heart of its vision: women’s empowerment, education, health and animal welfare. These focus areas reflect the belief that meaningful change begins by standing beside those who need support and creating opportunities that help people lead better lives.

Announcing the launch, Smriti Agrawal, Chairperson, WattPower Foundation, shared her vision by saying, “The WattPower Foundation is deeply personal to me because every cause we support comes from something I have witnessed or experienced. Over the years, I realised that meaningful change often begins with simple acts of care and the willingness to stand beside those who need us the most.

Through this Foundation, we hope to create opportunities that help people move forward with confidence and dignity. If we can make even a small difference in someone’s life, we believe it is a responsibility worth taking.”

The Foundation has already begun supporting initiatives across its four focus areas. In partnership with Round Table India, it has contributed to the construction of classrooms that provide children with a better learning environment. Together with Project Baala and SP Seva Sansthan, it has worked to improve menstrual health awareness and access to reusable sanitary napkins for women and girls. Through its partnership with Friendicoes, the Foundation has also supported the care and feeding of stray animals, reflecting its commitment to compassion in all its forms.

As the Foundation grows, it will continue to work with government bodies, educational institutions, implementation partners and community organisations to expand its reach and create lasting impact across India.

  • Billion Electric Mobility Partners with JK Cement to Deploy 150+ Heavy-Duty Electric Trucks

Billion Electric Mobility Partners with JK Cement to Deploy 150+ Heavy-Duty Electric Trucks

Billion Electric Mobility (BillionE), India’s pioneering E-Mobility-as-a-Service (eMaaS) platform, announced its partnership with J K Cement Limited, one of India’s leading cement manufacturers, to accelerate the decarbonisation of commercial freight through the deployment of heavy-duty electric trucks. As part of the partnership, Billion Electric will deploy more than 150 heavy-duty electric trucks during the current financial year, enabling J K Cement to progressively transition its cement transportation operations to zero-emission mobility.

The partnership commenced with the flagging off of the first fleet of 20 heavy-duty electric trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 55 tonnes from J K Cement’s Muddapur plant in Karnataka. The trucks will transport cement to stockyards across Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa, marking one of the largest deployments of electric trucks for cement logistics in the region and demonstrating the commercial viability of long- and mid-haul zero-emission freight operations. Through its integrated eMaaS platform, Billion Electric will provide an end-to-end electric freight ecosystem encompassing heavy-duty electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, fleet operations, and technology-led route management.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pushparaj Singh, Group President – Marketing, J K Cement Limited, said, “To support the deployment, Billion Electric will leverage ChargeZone’s expanding high-speed charging network across key freight corridors in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa. Charging infrastructure is being strengthened across strategic locations, including Nipani, Satara, Pune, Karad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Hubli, and Davanagere, enabling reliable operations for long- and mid-haul electric freight movement and creating the infrastructure backbone required for large-scale commercial EV adoption.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Sanjeev Kulkarni, CEO at Billion Electric Mobility, said, “The decarbonisation of India’s freight sector will be driven by enterprises that are willing to lead from the front. J K Cement’s commitment demonstrates that heavy-duty electric mobility is no longer a future aspiration but a commercially viable reality. Through Billion Electric’s integrated eMaaS platform, supported by ChargeZone’s expanding high-speed charging network, we are enabling businesses to transition to electric freight with confidence while building the infrastructure backbone needed to scale zero-emission logistics across the country.”

The partnership represents another significant milestone in India’s transition towards sustainable commercial transportation. By combining J K Cement’s commitment to greener operations with Billion Electric’s integrated electric freight platform and ChargeZone’s nationwide charging ecosystem, the initiative establishes a scalable model for decarbonising industrial logistics while advancing the adoption of zero-emission commercial mobility across key freight corridors.
